Garden of Eden

I was looking at the palm trees outside my apartment and started to think about their formation and shape. What is beneficial about their shape? That lead to a series of thoughts that ultimately lead to this; what all resided within the confines of the Garden of Eden? Of course, answers to this would have to come from speculation only.
If all the animals existed as they are when they inhabited the Garden, the climate control would be insane, that's not to say God couldn't do it, however, God likes to work within the laws of nature. So I came to thinking, perhaps the animals didn't all live in the Garden.
There is no reason to think that they did, thinking that all the animals lived in the Garden was just what I assumed since I was a child. But it came to me, the world existed outside of the Garden. When Adam and Eve were cast out they had a place to go and a place to farm. Maybe the animals were scattered about the earth. Now this would make sense, but it would take forever for these animals to get to the Garden to Adam and again to Noah for the ark.
One other possibility is that they were in the Garden and after Adam and Eve were cast out the animals traveled across the earth and then adapted to their surroundings. Unfortunately, this couldn't happen either, as this level of microevolution would take much long than it would have to.
